QB8 Great App find-Insight Timer (and it's free!!)

In our fast paced world, where everyone is dealing with stresses of all kind, trying to take care of themselves, their families and loved ones, and often times burning themselves out in the process, it is critical to find ways to relieve that stress and just breathe. For me, meditation has really helped with that. I had dabbled a bit with it here and there in my past but never really gave it a chance. I used to think if I meditated I would end up falling asleep. The other excuse I had, believe it or not, was that I did not have time for that. A popular quote on this, which always makes me laugh because it is so right on, is “If you don’t have time to meditate for 5 minutes, then meditate for an hour.”

With all that said, I want to share with you an awesome app my wife turned me on to, it’s called Insight Timer. It is a FREE app with all sorts of meditations on there. What I love is there are meditations of all kinds on there so you are guaranteed to find something that resonates with you. The other cool thing is they range in times from a few minutes long to over an hour. They have all different kinds of meditations on there and add new ones daily. The site allows you to bookmark your favorites so you can easily go back to them when you want. I love that they have such a wide selection and offer a ton of different themes. You can choose ones that are purely sounds (either music or nature) or you can choose from a wide array of guided meditations. I enjoy both depending on the situation.

My favorite of all time is the Morning Ritual meditation by Jason McGrice. I have recommended this one to so many people I can’t keep count! It is only 10 minutes long and is the perfect way to start the day! Jason is from Australia so has a great accent! It is a great way to get your mind set with good intentions and breathe deeper. I highly recommend checking this one out, it already has over 1 million listens!!! It’s a great one to begin with with if you are looking to start!

Another one of my favorites is by David Ji called Surrender to the Silence Within. I have a stressful job (don’t we all?!) and I have many times jumped to this one to help me chill out after a particular crazy day. I have also had days where I obsessed over something I said, or something that has happened, and my mind races at 100 miles an hour with different ideas and thoughts. Listening to this helps me slow down, release that craziness, and just breathe. Often times, I am then able to let go of whatever I was stressed out about or obsessing over, and then see things in a new light. At the very least, it helps me to chill out and give myself (in mind and body) a break!

The last one I want to share with you is one of my favorite non speaking meditations. This one is called Nature Sounds: The Ocean. Anyone that knows me knows that the ocean is one of my favorite things on earth! I love the gorgeous colors, the ebbs and flow of the water, the salty smell, and the incredible majestic sounds of the waves. Whenever I drive to the beach I can literally feel any burdens lifting from my shoulders! Listening to this one absolutely soothes my soul and helps me breathe deeper and slow my breathing down. It is amazing the positive impact doing those two things with your breath can do for you! I love this one at any time but find it particularly nice to listen to right before bed as a way to help you ease into sleep (it also helps me feel like I am living at a beach house-lol). It is 30 minutes of pure oceanic bliss, check it out!

I will admit, while my personal goal for myself is to meditate at least once a day, I do not always do it. However, when I do meditate, I always feel better and it is a particularly awesome way to start the day! I really hope you take a moment to download this app and check it out. It is soooooo worth it! Namaste!
